Visual Arts
The Visual Arts program provides students with engaging, inclusive and creative learning experiences that encourage curiosity, confidence and self-expression. From Foundation to Year 6, students explore a wide range of skills, materials and techniques, and build their understanding of the creative process while celebrating their unique perspectives.
Our teaching is guided by the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model (VTLM 2.0), which places students at the centre of learning. Lessons are carefully designed around explicit teaching, with clear learning intentions, differentiation and meaningful feedback. Students are encouraged to reflect on their learning, experiment with new ideas and build confidence and resilience.
Differentiation is at the heart of the Visual Arts program, ensuring every student is supported and challenged as required. Learning experiences are adapted through varied entry points, resources and opportunities for students to demonstrate their understanding. Focus groups in art give students the best chance to learn independently.
Students experience a rich and diverse curriculum, developing skills in drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture as well as claymation and photography. Technology is used as a creative tool, building both artistic and digital literacy skills.
A highlight of the senior program is the Grade 6 skateboard project, where students turn skateboard decks into artworks that celebrate the end of their primary school learning journey.
Student voice is embedded throughout the program, with opportunities to select themes, materials and techniques that reflect individual interests and cultural backgrounds. Beyond the classroom, Art Clubs, the annual Art Show and community exhibitions provide authentic opportunities for students to celebrate their achievements and share their creativity with families and the wider community.
Through creativity, collaboration and purposeful learning experiences, the Visual Arts program inspires every student to explore, create and communicate with confidence while developing skills that will support them both within and beyond the classroom.
